Thandulula Luxury Safari Tents \ Accommodation in Southport

Thandulula was founded in 2003 and is in owner operation since then. The name Thandulula means ‘unwind’. The uniqueness of Thandulula lies in the fact that every luxury safari tent has its own bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, sleeping and relaxing area, and own deck area all under one roof. Thandulula was graded in September 2008 by SA Grading Council and awarded four stars and by AA Travel and award ‘Highly Recommended’ by them.

Self Catering Accommodation

Thandulula has four units which are uniquely named by the owners:

Waterval unit
A two sleeper with a queen size bed and all amenities as described. This unit is very successfully used for honeymoon couples and all anniversaries. Many honeymoon couples came back to celebrate their first, second anniversaries and even when their first child is born.

Bumble Bee unit
A four sleeper and comprises of Big Bumble Bee with a double bed, own bathroom, kitchen, TV, covered deck area and own braai place and next to it is Small Bumble Bee with two single beds and its own bathroom. The guests staying in Small Bumble Bee will have to share the kitchen, TV, deck and braai area with the couple in Big Bumble Bee. Therefore the rates for adults staying in Small Bumble Bee is lower because of the sharing facilities.

Kokomoyo unit
A four sleeper and is exactly the same as Bumble Bee unit with the inside colour, the queen size bed and the different names, the only three differences. It is called Big Kokomoyo and Small Kokomoyo.

Rietbos unit
Also a four sleeper and is the biggest unit. It is suitable for parents with small children who still want to sleep with the parents. It has a double bed and two single beds, a three seater couch and the TV, all under one roof with the bathroom, kitchen and deck area. Next to this unit is a small sandpit and a small jungle gym for the children.

Facilities

All units are equipped with two to three seater couches, good quality base bed set with linen, blankets, duvets and electric blankets on all beds for winter-comfort, a small oil heater, a good quality pedestal fan for summer, a TV with SABC 1, 2, 3 and eTV, a DVD machine and decoder facility - guests have to bring their own decoders for DSTV connection here on site. Clean bath towels are supplied daily when the units are serviced.

Each unit also have its own braai place. We have a fenced swimming pool on site with an adjacent lapa. The property is electrically fenced with remote control access and linked to Chubb Security. Shaded, paved parking is available.

Location

Thandulula is situated in Southport, 9 km north of Port Shepstone and 18 km north of Margate on the KwaZulu Natal South Coast. A drive to central Durban takes about 1 hour 10 minutes and to the new uShaka International Airport it will be a two hour drive. Southport is our nearest beach and is only 1.5 km away.

In Port Shepstone you will find Pick n Pay, an excellent Spa and fresh meat butchery. Clicks, pharmacies, medical practitioners, a provincial and private Hospital, an excellent golf course, bowling greens and good fishing spots are found in the vicinity. We are also members of the local and provincial tourism offices as well as the B and B Network and The Southern Explorer. Their Route Guide is a very successful tool to find what to do, where to go, where to eat and where to shop in our area. Each guest receives this route guide for free.
