Pennygum Country Cottages \ Accommodation in Underberg

Paul and Sarah Cooper are delighted to welcome you to our four beautiful cottages with stunning ‘picture postcard’ views of the Southern Drakensberg Mountains just 6km from Underberg in KwaZulu Natal.

Our cottages are set in lovely gardens and apple orchards. They make an outstanding base to explore, hike in the Drakensberg World Heritage National Park, fish, mountain bike, ride or take a Sani Pass tour into Lesotho. You can even go on our rafts or tubes down the Umzimkulu River in season or just enjoy the peace. Pennygum is owner-run and we pride ourselves on giving a warm welcome to our guests and we promise to do our best to help you have a memorable holiday.

Pennygum offers fully equipped and fully serviced cottages, which are beautifully appointed. We have a splash pool and swings for children and most cottages have log fires and electric blankets for winter.

Accommodation

African Dreams
Our ‘honeymoon’ thatched rondavel, which sleeps two - four. It comprises of a double bedroom, a sofa bed in the lounge, two bathrooms – one with a large romantic corner bath- the other a shower room. It boasts an open log fireplace and DVD player (DVDs available to borrow) and outdoor seating and braai area with dazzling views of the Giants Cup.

Lavender Cottage
Sleeps four - but can also accommodate one to two children on a sofa bed. It is a beautiful light cottage and has a double bed with large en Suite bathroom and a twin bedded room with a shower room en Suite, it also has a DVD player, an electric fire for winter and patio / braai area.

Apple Cottage
Is perhaps the ‘star’. It sleeps six - eight people with a Queen size bed with shower room en Suite, a twin bedded room and a double room with a family bathroom and a double sleeper couch in the lounge. It has a stunning fireplace and a DVD player - bring own card and box for TV. There is a large dining room and lovely kitchen with a range type stove. The verandah has a Weber braai and shady trees to sit under in the heat and admire the views.

The family cottage
Sleeps 10 people – it is double storey and has its own private entrance and garden - ideal for a large family or group. There are three double bedrooms and a dormitory room with four single beds. The cottage has two bathrooms and a large open plan kitchen / dining room with open fireplace and a DVD player (bring card and decoder for TV). Enjoy a Weber braai on the veradah with magnificent berg views, spotting glorious birds or star gazing into a sky with virtually no light pollution.

Breakfast and Dining

Breakfast and dinner can be pre-ordered - a delicious home cooked dinner can be waiting for you after a long day.
