Accommodation

Mountain Splendour is a little piece of paradise; tucked away on a small working farm, in the heart of the Champagne Valley in the Central Drakensberg. Our 4-star graded camping and caravanning resort boasts spectacular mountain views and spacious sites set amongst a forest of trees, shrubs and manicured lawns. We pride ourselves on providing our guests with professional and personalised service as well as excellent amenities and facilities with spotless ablutions.

Camping is made easy with a selection of luxury private bathrooms, pre-erected safari tents, large raised and levelled electrified sites, tea on arrival, staff assistance with setting up camp, fridges and mattresses or beds for hire, free freezer space and a serviced laundry. Mountain Splendour has a limited number of caravan storage bays. Caravans stored with us are set-up on site and ready for your holiday each time you visit, at no additional charge.

Team building and Adventure Camps

Mountain Splendour Eco-Resort is also able to offer corporate clients and school groups fully catered adventure camps and team builds. Guests can either be accommodated in our luxury tents on beds or on foam mattresses. A tailored made package of activities making use of both the resorts facilities and neighbouring adventure centres is designed for each client.

Activities and attractions

There are plenty of outdoor activities for the whole family including mountain biking, pony rides, tubing, swimming, picnicking, birding, hiking, tennis and volleyball. In season we organise a full entertainment programme with a range of activities for kids and families. For mountain biking enthusiasts we have a small mountain bike shop on the property and are able to offer basic bike servicing and repairs. Your kids will love our superb playground and built-for-kids mountain bike track. With their new found friends they will enjoy walking or riding their bikes down to the office to buy an ice-cream or a packet of animal to feed the potbellied pigs, goats and friendly donkeys.

The Champagne Valley is a vibrant valley with plenty of activities and things to do in the area. There are two golf courses in the, fishing in various dams, white water rafting, canopy tours and zip lines. For a more sedentary day enjoy a concert at the world famous Drakensberg Boys’ Choir School, watch a rapture display at the Bird of Prey Centre, shop for arts and crafts, or indulge yourself at one of the many restaurants, coffee shops or health spas in the area. Further afield you can visit battlefield sites and wildlife reserves or even wander along the Midlands Meander route.
