The Grange Guest House \ Accommodation in Durban North

The Grange is perfectly situated in upper Durban North on a quiet street off the main road, just 500 metres away from the Broadway shopping area and restaurants. A 5 minute drive will take you to the rugby stadia and the stunning Moses Mabhida Stadium. 10 minutes to the south will get you to the Durban CBD, Ushaka marine world and the fun and beaches of Suncoast Casino. 10 minutes to the north you have the business parks of Umhlanga and La Lucia Ridge, the huge Gateway Theatre of Shopping and the beaches of Umhlanga Rocks.

Accommodation

The Grange is a gracious 1950’s mansion house with high ceilings and dark wooden floors. Being a house with a history (the 1st Bed & Breakfast in Durban North), no rooms are alike, but whether cosy and comfortable or spacious and gracious, all rooms enjoy the same level of quality furnishings and state of the art bathrooms. Each room features extra long queen or twin (king) beds, quality percale sheets, duvets and cotton blankets, extra large pillows, 32 inch flat screen wall mounted tv, Dstv, ceiling fan, reverse cycle AC, bar fridge (stocked or not), tea tray with real coffee, clock radio, hairdryer, quality bathroom amenities and WiFi.

The Grange has a range of rooms, from queen bedded with shower only to full bath and spacious rooms that also suit families. Being travellers ourselves we know what it is like to travel with children and we have a flexible attitude towards bedding configurations, breakfast and can loan items like a dvd player, dvds, toys, games and pool/beach equipment.

Our huge 40m2 family room on the ground floor is also wheelchair accessible and the ‘wet room’ style ensuite has been designed specifically for wheelchair access. It is also good for elderly people as there is a huge bench to sit on in the shower. This room also enjoys a private garden terrace accessed via French doors.

The beautiful 2 bedroom suite on the 1st floor suits families, groups or corporate travellers. The front queen bedded room enjoys stunning sea (breaker) views. The 2nd room is twin bedded. Both rooms share a bathroom via a short private hall so each room is completely private. This configuration also suits corporate travellers who need the privacy of their own rooms but don’t mind sharing a bathroom to keep the costs down.

All bathrooms in The Grange have been fitted with top quality Spanish and Italian tiles, Italian san ware - all state of the art with suspended ‘gebrit’ toilets. Most showers are huge and all have elegant frameless shower screens.

Another unique room is the 1st floor ‘Indaba Tree’. This room has been decorated with an African theme, has a large full bathroom and an amazing roof garden with views to the city and sea! This is a very special room, wonderful for a longer stay or honeymoon.

Breakfast

Durban weather is mild year round so breakfast is usually enjoyed on large elegant patio which overlooks the garden with views to the sea.

Facilities

The large and uniquely furnished reception and lounge/dining rooms flow onto the patio via French and stack doors so even when inside you can enjoy the feeling of being outdoors. There is also a large flat screen TV with DSTV and a bar should you wish to relax in the lounge in the evening.

There is a newly renovated swimming pool available for guests enjoyment and pool towels. We also have some bath/pool robes for adults to make the trip from your room to the pool and back more comfortable. Should you wish to enjoy a braai (or BBQ as we Aussies call it), this can also be organised. There is ample parking on site, much of it undercover.

Staff are happy to press clothes from 6am to 6pm for no charge and a laundry service is also available for a nominal fee.

Business Facilities

We also have business facilities - you can use our office computer, internet, fax/copier. Cordless phones can also be taken to your room should you need one to make local or international calls (this service is charged for). A wide selection of latest issue magazines is available in the lounge/dining area to take to your room.
