The South African province of KwaZulu Natal is one of the country’s most beautiful. In fact, its lush, subtropical vegetation has earned it the nickname of the Garden Province. The verdant abundance meets with the clear turquoise of the Indian Ocean, known for its temperate waters and array of marine life. This means that KwaZulu Natal is a favourite summer vacation destination for families as well as those that love watersports.

Because of its great variety of fauna and flora, this province is also a hotspot for nature-lovers, and boasts a number of impressive reserves and parks. Game drives, hiking, walking, bird-watching, or simply drinking in the splendour of the countryside are all perfect ways to enjoy its breath-taking splendour.

KwaZulu Natal also has a rich history, based on the indigenous Zulu tribes and their confrontation with the British and Boer settlers. There are many battle sites throughout the province, which tell the sometimes tragic tales of thousands of soldiers that lost their lives. As a result, the modern-day KZN is now characterised by an array of cultures, languages, colours and customs. The diversity is enthralling and inviting, despite its difficult origins.

As one of South Africa’s busiest and most popular tourist destinations, KwaZulu Natal is well equipped to accommodate its many visitors. Its infrastructure and amenities are of a world-class standard, and it is home to the new King Shaka International Airport. Its weather is another major draw card, as it enjoys balmy, humid summers and temperate winters.
